The Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant will open Friday under new management.
The rustic lodge and restaurant, a longtime attraction along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford County, will open at noon Friday as it unveils a new menu and a few new amenities.
The reopening comes nearly eight months after the lodge closed when the previous concessionaire decided not to renew its contract with the National Park Service. The 63-room lodge was built in 1964 and had been open mostly year-round since 1977.
Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts was named as the new concessionaire in April and had announced that the lodge would reopen July 15. However, the lodge is opening two days ahead of schedule and is accepting reservations for rooms.
Starting Saturday, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Delaware North will also manage the gift shop, the Sharp Top shuttle bus and the country store.
The lodge and its attractions will be open through Dec. 15.
