Police seized almost 60 pounds of marijuana and more than $15,000 from a house in northwest Roanoke on Tuesday, according to court documents.
A search warrant filed in Roanoke Circuit Court said a Roanoke police officer noticed the smell of unburned marijuana outside a home in the 1500 block of Fresno Street Northwest. He also noted that several surveillance cameras were attached to the house.
Suspecting that the house was part of a drug operation, police obtained the warrant. On Tuesday, according to the warrant, they seized 59.5 pounds of marijuana, along with five scales, packaging material, a suitcase and four duffel bags.
They also found $15,534 in cash, financial paperwork and a gun box that contained a loaded extended magazine, according to the warrant.
Roanoke police Lt. S.E. Keatts said no further information was available because of the ongoing nature of the investigation. He could not release information on whether investigators have identified a suspect.
