An eastbound lane of U.S. 460 will remain closed in Bedford County through most of the day today as crews work to repair a hole caused by a storm water pipe.
The hole, which is about 5 feet wide and 6 feet deep, caused the closing of the road's right lane Sunday evening just east of Bedford.
Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jamie Smith said crews were working to repair damage caused by the separation of a storm water pipe under the roadway. She said drivers should expect the lane to be closed for most of the day today.
Traffic backups have not been an issue so far, Smith said, but VDOT continues to encourage drivers to use caution in the area.
