Roanoke police have identified a man shot on Williamson Road early Sunday morning.
Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said officers on patrol were monitoring the 3300 block of Williamson Road at 3:33 a.m. Sunday when they heard gunshots. They had been patrolling the area because a large crowd had gathered.
She said the officers moved toward the sounds of the gunshots and found a man who had been shot.
Brian Tyrone Taylor, 32, of Roanoke was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Johnson said.
She said officers received little cooperation from the people who were at the scene at the time of the shooting.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Roanoke police at 853-5959 or Crime Line at 344-8500.
