A detour re-routes southbound traffic off exit 175 to U.S. 11, then back to I-81 at exit 162 near Buchanan.

An overturned tractor-trailer shut down Interstate 81 south in Botetourt County for more than three hours Tuesday.
Virginia State Police Trooper N.Z. Harris said the southbound truck was hauling equipment shortly after 10 a.m. when the driver lost control and the truck overturned at mile marker 168.9.
Harris said an estimated 200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway.
Crews closed both southbound lanes of the interstate and VDOT set up a detour to route traffic around the wreck on U.S. 11, rejoining I-81 near Buchanan. The incident backed up traffic for more than 10 miles at one point.
Harris said the driver of the truck, Warren Ken Patterson, 65, of Alabama, is charged with failure to maintain control. Harris said Patterson was treated for minor injuries.
Both lanes of I-81 south were re-opened shortly before 1:30 p.m.
