Virginia State Police have identified the two victims from Saturday’s fatal motorcycle crash in Botetourt County as David Jackson Via Jr., 43, of Copper Hill, and Tammy Lynda Tyree, 47, of Salem.
Via was operating the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and Tyree was his passenger.

The crash remains under investigation. It occurred about 6:10 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 11, one mile south of Virginia 640.
Via’s motorcycle was traveling south through a highway work zone when it collided with a 2003 Ford SUV, which was traveling north .
The driver of the SUV, Chatman Huffman Jr., 38, of Fincastle, was not injured in the crash.
A third vehicle was involved in the crash as well. Alvin Lawson of Elliston was driving a three-wheel Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on U.S. 11 when he tried to avoid the crash, but hit Via’s bike and then veered off the left side of the roadway, striking a Jersey barrier wall.
Pamela Jonas of Elliston, who was a passenger on Lawson’s bike, was treated at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening .
