Franklin County authorities said they believe a Thursday morning home invasion and beating was targeted, not random.

According to a news release from Sgt. Phillip Young of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a home on Philpott Road in Henry at 6:52 a.m. after a woman called 911. She reported being beaten by one person with a weapon, Young said.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital for treatment, Young said.

On Thursday night, Lt. Todd Maxey of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office's investigation division said police believe the attack was not random.

"So far, our investigation is leading in the direction that it was specific to the house," Maxey said. "There is no marauder on the loose."

Maxey didn't have many other details about the incident, including a description of the weapon or of the attacker.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 483-6604. Police are specifically seeking information on suspicious vehicles that may have been in the Philpott Road area early Thursday morning.

A bout 9 p.m. Thursday, Maxey said the victim was still hospitalized but was in stable condition.
