Roanoke police were investigating two shooting deaths Monday morning in a home in the southwest area of the city.
The bodies of a man and a woman — along with a firearm — were found in a house in the 1100 block of Brandon Avenue about 10 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson. The house is a small brick, Tudor-style home at the corner of Brandon Avenue and Brighton Road.
While police worked, two women arrived at the scene and left sobbing. Later, a man and another woman stopped by, spoke to police and retrieved two Boston terrier dogs from a car parked outside the house.
A neighbor, Scott Higgins, said a couple live in the house. The wife has an adolescent daughter from a previous marriage, he said. Higgins said he saw the daughter walking toward the school bus stop Monday morning.
Another neighbor, Britton Mauck, said the man and woman have lived in the house for several years with the daughter. Mauck said another man lives in the house with them.
The bodies were removed from the house about 3 p.m. Johnson said they’ll undergo autopsies today .
