Roanoke sets street closings for St. Patrick’s Day events

A 5K race, the annual parade and other events will result in Saturday morning road closures.

Roanoke will close several streets for its St. Patrick's Day festivities Saturday. The city is not setting up detours for any of these street closings.

7 a.m to 7 p.m.

These streets will close from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Shamrock Festival:

  • Norfolk Avenue, between short Market Street and Campbell Avenue;
  • Market Street, between Salem Avenue and Campbell Avenue;
  • Wall Street, between Salem Avenue and Campbell Avenue; and
  • Jefferson Street, between Salem Avenue and Campbell Avenue.

8:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m.

Between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., these streets will close for the Shamrock Hill 5K, 10K and 1-Mile Fun Run:

  • Gainsboro Road southbound, south of Orange Avenue;
  • Shenandoah Avenue westbound, between Jefferson Street and 22nd Street Northwest ;
  • Centre Avenue eastbound, between 22nd Street and 12th Street;
  • Jefferson Street northbound, between Patton Avenue and Shenandoah Avenue;
  • Henry Street southbound, between Wells Avenue and Centre Avenue; and
  • Loudon Avenue, between Gainsboro Road and Henry Street.

11 a.m to noon

These streets will close from 11 a.m. to noon for the St. Patrick's Day Parade:

  • Jefferson Street, between Salem Avenue and Maple Avenue;
  • Campbell Avenue, between Williamson Road and Jefferson Street; and Williamson Road southbound, between Campbell Avenue and Franklin Road.

2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Finally, Luck Avenue, between First Street and Second Street, will be closed to through traffic from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. All parking lots will be accessible, however.
