The North Mountain Beagle Club held a Fun Hunt Sept. 9 on a parcel of property along the Cowpasture River outside of Clifton Forge. The club hunts rabbit using beagles which have a natural nose for the scent of rabbit. There are no firearms involved in the hunt. The hunt consists of a timed chase where the dogs are let loose to chase the rabbit scent. Only in rare cases does the dog actually catch the fast moving rabbit. No rabbits were harmed in the fun hunt.
