Video: Fire destroys Roanoke Co. house
Fire destroyed a North Roanoke County home Tuesday afternoon, but no one was injured, officials said.
Crews from the Hollins and Vinton stations responded to a single-story, cedar-sided house in the 5900 block of Old Mountain Road about 1:30 p.m., according to Fire-EMS spokeswoman Jennifer Conley Sexton.
Flames were coming from the roof and chimney when the crews arrived, she said. Afternoon winds fueled the fire, spread it quickly across the roof and forced firefighters inside to evacuate.
