Benjamin Mesadieu of Patrick Henry High School practiced football on Monday, the first official day of practice in Timesland.

The VHSL originally set Aug. 1 as the first day prep football teams would be allowed to practice.

However, in mid-May the VHSL moved the date up to July 28, when it became apparent teams with Aug. 22 openers would not be able to get in their maximum of 20 days of preseason practice.
