Video: Fallen tree destroys van, damages house
A severe thunderstorm passed through the Roanoke Valley Wednesday afternoon, creating wind damage that caused power outages and downed trees.
Phil Hysell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, said the most severe damage was in Vinton, where the storm generated winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.
A tree fell on a van on Poplar Grove Drive in Vinton, destroying the vehicle and damaging the owner's house.
