Video: After school program response to closing Forest Park
The Roanoke school board is set to vote on a proposal to close Forest Park, disperse its students to other city schools and use the building for a special academy for overage students next year. A public hearing on the matter is set for tonight.
Groups such as the Boys & Girls Club program at Forest Park, which meets after school from 4 to 7 p.m., will have to find new ways of getting together, students and parents said.
Parents have met several times over the past few days, most recently on Tuesday, to oppose closing the school.
