Video: Burmese refugees find a home in Roanoke
Ba Doh Htoo and his family arrived in Roanoke a month ago from Myanmar (Burma) via a Thai refugee camp. His wife, Eh Eh, had already lost her first husband to malaria after he'd been forced into hard labor in Burma. Eh Eh fled the country for Thailand's refugee camps four years ago. She brought her son, Eh Moo, now 20, and youngest daughter, Law Eh, 18.
Aided by translation from Bea Sellinger, herself once a refugee from Burma, the family tells the story of oppression, escape and fear that led them to Roanoke last month.
