Saw a couple of Geezer rockers last Saturday. Stevie Winwood and Tom Petty at Walnut Creek near Raleigh. Both were good. They played a mix of old and new songs. Bring earplugs if you go to one of these. And I suggest sitting in the seats; we had a bunch of SERIOUSLY drunken college students around us.

For the older crowd, went to see The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band last Friday at Wolftrap. That venue is fantastic. Poco was the opener and they were okay, the Dirt Band was real good. John McKuen on banjo, fiddle and mandolin was as good as it gets. Jimmy Fallon is good on drums and incredible on the harmonica. He was alone on stage and did a harmonica solo that had everyone on their feet. Jeff Hanna on guitar and vocals and Bob Carpenter on keyboards and vocals haven't aged a day. The Dirt Band has been around over 40 years but to hear them, you would never know it. They always sound fresh. They played several songs from the Circle Be Unbroken albums that were very good and Mr. Bojangles brought a tear to the eye.
