Child safety
There’s also a new motor vehicle law the Virginia General Assembly has aimed at parents of children ages 6 and 7: Beginning Sunday, any child under eight must be secured in child car seats or boosters seats whenever parents are driving them around.
Under the older law, parents could chuck a booster seat when a child turned 6.

Is your 7-year-old too big for this?

Why is it going to be difficult carrying a Dr's note around? It shouldn't be any harder than carrying a driver's license or registration card.

They should make laws by height, along with age.

To the person searching for a large booster seat. Go to google and search for: Cosco Prospect Backless Booster Car Seat. You'll find a cheap seat good for up to 100lbs. My 7 year old daughter is nearly 4'6" tall and weighs about 62 pounds and fits a standard backless booster seat just fine. I think this law is a great idea!

We have seat belt laws, helmet laws, infant and booster seat laws....we have laws restricting the consumption of alchol & tobacco...and all of this is done, according to those law makers to protect us. Yet there no law preventing a pregnant woman from smoking a cigarette or drinking a cocktail. There is no law preventing an infant from entering a bar...yet after 10 pm, no one under age is permitted to be in a bar...what happens at 10? Hmmm, why is that? Here's a thought - write some legislation that will actually make some sense!

How do we prove our kids, Grand kids are over eight years old? Must we duplicate the birth certificates or must we now get the kids an ID card they can produce for law enforcement or just settle the matter with a trip to court.

And what about the School bus? Do the counties need to supply booster seats for all the buses or are they exempt? If so why?

What about day care transportation, yes,
no,maybe?

Hey, General ASS-embly, you take care of yours and let us take care of our most precious things in our lives our kids, Grand kids and families. Or do you not think us capable without you?

When will you pass the wrap all children under 18 years old in bubble wrap act?

Although safety comes first, we will have a problem. Our 6 year old is "off the charts" in height and weight. Here is no way he can fit comfortably into any child safety or booster seat we've seen. I can't imagine what it will be like by the time he is 8! Also, carrying around a note from the doctor is going to be difficult. I guess we'll have to make many copies to give to each person who might be transporting him. What option do we have? Maybe the companies will start making larger booster seats just for these situations, and that would be fine. Currently, I don't know of any "X-large" booster seats. Does anyone?
