My post from November about Strip Mining.
You ask what coal mining had to do with Pres. Bush. I was speaking of the crimes that this adminstration is allowing to happen to our environment over the all mighty dollar to ruin our land and rivers over Strip Mining. It had nothing to do with Coal Mining and therefore nil to do with Bush.

God will do what He will, but I believe we have a while to go. Besides, Hillary hasn't won the Presidency yet, or taken over the UN, or implanted us all with microchips.
But, I do see a lot of discrimination and hatred towards Christians. I guess thats been around a while though.

Zero? Really? I thought the world was going to end this season.
It's not? Well, golly, old Al (chicken little)Gore, the inventor of the internet, told us it was. Gee whiz.
What a joke.
Oh, I see, NOW we're supposed to have THE WORST WINTER EVER. Oh no, better buy more coal to stoke the furnace.
Funny, years back these wackos said the Earth was COOLING, can't they get it right?

I take back the dignity I conveyed in my prebious post. It seems you are a typical Kool-Aid drinking liberal, blaming everything under the Sun on one man. How unfortunate for you.
Good luck with your medications, I would suggest sticking them in your mouth and swallowing them as opposed to smoking them.

Just thought that was absurd.

Dude, nobody with that on their car would last ANY time down in the OBX. Unless they were staying in Wanchese.
The rest was pretty acurate, unfortunately.

No sir, I KNOW these engines exist. I just dont think they are as easily made and sustained.
There are plenty of ways to get/create energy. Look at the windfarms they wanted to put on Bent Mtn.
If the Government/Big Oil has conspired as you say, it has been going on for a VERY LONG time and everyone of our elected officials is to blame.
Not just the ones who actually make their intentions clear, ie. Republicans. At least they do what they SAY they will do, whether you like it or not.

Unfortunately, everything you've said is purely opinion and based in your own mind. I stand behind what I said, if it were do-able then we'd see it.
The fact, sadly, is that it isnt. In a way that would benefit the populace as a whole, I mean.
As for Iraq, your statements are tired and without fact. Pure talking point material.

Sounds good on paper. There have always been rumors that the Big Bad guvmint has cars that run on water, coca-cola, etc. Cures for AIDS and Cancer as well.
Seeing is believing and there are plenty, thousands, of scientists out there who have created vehicles that run on such things.
The reality is, that it just ISN'T practical or efficient. It would do as much or more damage to the world in other ways.
If this were not true, there would be people doing it. Making vehicles out of balsa wood and engines on the cheap, and using such materials for fuel.
I wish it were so, but it just isn't. BTW, I am in no way FOR the destruction of nature. I just see the world as it is and believe in the beauty of Capitalism.

What in the hell does coal mining have to do with President Bush? Are you a malcontent? What should we use for fuel? SOY? The lack of reality on the left still amazes me.
Do you know that this type of coal mining has been going on through most of our countries life, even under Carter (gasp)and Clinton(oooh)? Did you know that the people behind all the protesting over fuel (see A.N.S.W.E.R), oil and coal, are only out to end it altogether? These people are out to end Capitalism. They want us to be a third world country.
They won't allow a new fuel refinery to be built, its been over 30 years. They won't allow nuclear facilities to built. What is their ANSWER? It is the ruin of our country.

There are less miners used and many of those that do work on the strip mining are not miners at all. This about putting a Texas Oil Man in charge of the Virginia Strip mining and letting anyone get away with whatever without any restrictions. The mountains are being destroyed, along with the rivers, the environment dangers and the people's homes that live there. Anyone who is interested in strip mining should read Robert Kennedy Jr.'s book on just this matter.

waurikakid on 8/7/2006 8:25:18 PM wrote: Unfortunately, in these rual areas the coal mining jobs pay the most and have people waiting to do this work. In most cases the workers come from several generations, who if they want to remain in that area, have to work in mines to take home a paycheck. With energy prices still going up; I don't think you will see less mining, only more. The only thing is the proper reclamation of the surface mines afterwards. That seems to be the biggest sore spot among people. Need stronger mandated reclamination laws and enforcement to follow thru to get the desired result afterwards. You can end up with at least more flat land for buildings than you had beforehand. Even though it will not look as pretty; that's the trade-off.

These mountains have been here for millions of years and because of the greed and money hungry men that run our country they are ruining the beauty of our nation and doing it while breaking the law but no one in the goverment cares.
