Excursion calendar guidelines

The Roanoke Times publishes a weekly Excursion Calendar in the Sunday Travel section. Trips organized by governmental entities, schools, tax-exempt clubs, churches and other registered nonprofits will be considered for publication, based on available space. Barring an expressed waiver by the editor, no more than three trips will be published at the same time by any organizer or sponsoring entity.

Trips listed under the sponsorship of a locality, nonprofit or other association should fit with the spirit of that listing entity’s mission. Documentation from the Internal Revenue Service or the Virginia State Corporation Commission of nonprofit status must be provided upon request to The Roanoke Times. Trips initiated and dictated by for-profit entities (such as tour companies) will not be included in the Travel section.

The organizer and sponsor must be located in The Roanoke Times’ primary readership area, and all trips should be submitted to the newspaper at least six weeks before the desired listing date. Correspondence can be sent to travel@roanoke.com.
