TONIGHT
Hillbilly Casino
With Dyin’ Crapshooter
Over the last couple of months, Jesse Ray Carter has transformed the back portion of 202 Market into a rockabilly and honky-tonk rebel haven. Tonight, Nashville rockabilly rippers Hillbilly Casino return to Roanoke for a gig at Doc’s Cigar Bar. Carter opens as Dyin’ Crapshooter.
Details: 9 p.m. Doc’s Cigar Bar at 202 Market, Roanoke. $5. 343-6644, facebook.com/202market, thehillbillycasino.com

First Fridays has raised more than $1 million since 1989 and given it to dozens of charities. FRIDAY
UPDATED: Sarah Shook
With Jesse Ray Carter Welcome to Hoonah
Pittsboro, N.C., honky-tonk singer Shook is an outstanding interpreter of the likes of Hank Williams Sr., but she has plenty of strong traditional country originals. She and the aforementioned Carter play solo sets at Doc’s on Friday, but don’t expect a laid-back affair.
UPDATE: A fire marshal's visit to Doc's Cigar Bar earlier this week ended the possibility of any more gigs out back of 202 Market, promoter Jesse Ray Carter said. Carter scrambled to find Shook a replacement date. She will be performing in-between sets from Welcome to Hoonah at Fork in the Market, a show listed below.
