The Outdoor Classroom: “Wildwood’s Wonderful Fungi”

Rebecca Rader, master naturalist with the North American Mycological Association and the New River Valley Mushroom Club, will discuss the hidden world of mushrooms and why they are so important to the ecosystem. The group will also look at mushroom photos and see what’s growing in the park.

When: 7:30 p.m.

FRIDAY

Down and Dirty Garden Symposium III

The theme of this year’s event is “Men in the Garden: A Most Unusual Symposium,” and will feature three speakers giving five talks and include lunch. Speakers include: Jimmy Turner, senior director of gardens for the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden, Joseph Tychonievich, nursery manager at Arrowhead Alpines in Fowlerville, Mich., and Bryce Lane, an instructor in the horticultural science department at N.C. State University. Pre-registration required.

When: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
