Butterflies at 5
A casual, after-hours and behind-the-scenes presentation “Pollen feeding in longwing butterflies,” about the museum’s butterfly garden, under the guidance of the lead animal care specialist Derek Kellogg. Each ticket includes two drinks from the bar and treats by Chocolatepaper.
With music by the Jefferson Center Music Lab.
When: 5 to 7 p.m.

Garden tour
The Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs will host a tour of five gardens in the Sugar Loaf area, and the Blue Ridge Daylilly Society will hold a sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Garden Center at 3640 Colonial Ave. Proceeds benefit the grounds at the Garden Center.
When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Start at any of the five houses
How much: $10; children, free. Tickets are available at the Garden Center 9 a.m. to noon during the week; day of tour, you can buy tickets at any of the houses.
