This weekend the Southwestern Virginia Chapter of the American Culinary Federation will host the inaugural Chocolate Sunday Festival.
Throughout the afternoon local vendors will provide samples of chocolate treats and present a wide array of additional products.
There will also be demonstrations from national and international award-winning chefs who will be showcasing unique chocolate dessert tips and techniques.
Chefs in attendance will include Jean-Francois Suteau, executive pastry chef at The Greenbrier; Geoffrey Blount, a baking and pastry instructor at Central Piedmont Community College; and Cheryl Gum, head candy-chocolate chef at The Greenbrier.
Other demonstrations will be presented by Sergio Mueller, new product specialist for Albert Uster Imports; and Jennifer England, baker and owner of La Bella Torta.
Proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the American Culinary Federation, which is a collection of chefs, students, cooks and others engaged in the food and beverage business.
The federation will put the money toward its community outreach programs, which teach area youths and adults the benefits of healthy eating habits and food preparation.
