A small Roanoke children's charity, Bookbag Santa, is in a national competition, trying to get a new van from Toyota. Not only that, but they are the only nonprofit to be a finalist all three years that Toyota has done it.
On Oct. 26, Toyota will list five charities from all over the country, for your vote, at www.100carsforgood.com . At the end of the day, the two nonprofits with the most votes get a new van or other vehicle from Toyota. Because Bookbag Santa got third place the previous two years, they have a chance to move up this year. Your vote from Roanoke might be the one that puts them into second or first place!
Bookbag Santa keeps two tons of used school supplies out of the landfill each year by donating them to poor kids. They need a new vehicle to gather supplies and deliver materials to events such as Local Colors and the Green Living Expo. You can read more at www.bookbagsanta.com.
