I’m not sure if this says more about my friends in general, or the marketing genius of my friends who founded Parkway Brewing Co. in Salem.
Last week, after a story was posted to roanoke.com about federal entities in the area that might be affected by a government shutdown, I posted a link to the story on my Facebook page.
“Parkway will stay open even if there’s a shutdown, but not the sites and attractions along the way,” I wrote.
At least a half-dozen friends commented along the same lines: They all thought I meant the brewery. Either their minds are stuck in a bottle, or the brewery has effectively overshadowed the very thing to which its name pays tribute.
“Awesome!” Parkway owner Lezlie Snyder replied. “We might have to run a Deadbeat Govt Special!”
