The alarm clock goes off (or not), the dawn breaks, and a new day begins.

I reflect for a moment on my “Book of Days,” recalling when events were measured by years, not days.

“Will I ever be old enough to get my driver’s license?”; “When will I be able to vote?”; “What do they mean life begins at 40?”; “How long before I sign up for AARP?”; “Is that Medicare program ever going to kick in?”

But now those years and decades of time have been relegated to the shadowy recesses of history, and the pages seem to turn much too quickly.

A s night falls to drop the curtain on another day, I am just thankful to pull up the covers, set the alarm (or not) and say, “I’ll see you in the morning.”
