On June 13, a bunch of us visited our friend, Sandi, who lives in Giles County.
About 2 p.m., it was time to leave. Sylvia, Diane and I were in Cherry’s car and the moment Cherry drove out of the driveway the rain came down and the wind blew.
After a short while we were on Virginia 605, a gravel road and there were three cars in front of us. Suddenly they stopped. Through the pouring rain we could see that a tree had fallen across the road. There was a stunned silence. What are four women going to do in a situation like this!
At that moment two young men got out of the lead car and tried to move the tree. No luck. Then they walked to the back of their car, opened the trunk and pulled out a chain saw, sawed the tree in half, moved each half, got back in their car and drove on. I am certain we were not stopped for more than 10 minutes.
What are the chances of a tree falling across the road and someone being right there with a chain saw?
God does, indeed, work in mysterious ways.
Our thanks to the young men who did a very good deed. At least I think they were young men. It was raining so hard it was really hard to tell.
