I’d like to thank everyone who gave me feedback on my Tuesday Extra story about social media sites.
I also wanted to clarify a thing or two that I didn’t write about very much.
All of the sites have settings to make your posts private — for instance, you can make your Instagram account private so that your photos are not visible to the entire community, likewise you can create private Reddit and Tumblr blogs.
But with the latter two sites, there are other things users should know.
To a new user, browsing Tumblr for the first time might be overwhelming because of all the adult content that may pop up with a search. But there is an option in the settings where you can filter the content as “not safe for work” or NSFW. That way, if you’re an active user and you don’t really want to see any of that, none of it will show up.
When it comes to Reddit, the site’s only rules when it comes to content is no child pornography, content involving minors or spam. Otherwise, everything else is fair game.
It does, however, allow you to tag the post if it is NSFW as a precaution.
Hope this makes your socializing much easier — and trouble free.
