Up in the hills of West Virginia on Saturday, motorcycle enthusiasts, blues enthusiasts and barbecue enthusiasts will find common cause in a place with the bucolic name of Paw Paw.
It’s the 13th annual Motorcycle Show at Paw Paw’s Avalon Resort. An e mail news release bills it as a “full day of fun,” with “shiny bikes, great BBQ … vendors and friendly folks” — with a blues band playing during the day and a disc jockey dance at night.
And many of the people there will be naked.
Yep, Avalon Resort is what they call a clothing-optional resort. It’s $20 to get in, with $5 of that going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Performing that afternoon is the Bad Influence Band, a Washington D.C.-area act that has three other festivals booked this month. But I’m betting this is the event that band members will be talking about.
According to the news release, Bad Influence is “back by popular demand,” which probably means that it played there previously without anyone in the band doing a spit-take during a harmonica solo, staring so hard that chords and cues were missed or dropping a drumstick right before the backbeat. That is true professionalism.
