If you’re a teenager in the Roanoke area, you can help produce The Edge next school year.

A group of about 30 high school students meets once a week in our newsroom.

Our Edge reporters, photographers and illustrators dream up story ideas and see them through to print. They learn about newspapers and piece together the only page dedicated to teens in The Roanoke Times.

The Edge is printed on the back page of Wednesday’s Extra section throughout the school year. We’ve written stories about aspiring musicians, dedicated athletes and the stresses of getting into college.

We also share stories on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheEdgeRT and on our blog at blogs.roanoke.com/theedge.

If you’re interested in joining The Edge, email Rebecca Barnett at rebecca.barnett@roanoke.com or Suzanne Miller at suzanne.miller@roanoke.com.

We can send you an application, or you can download one at the blog.

Applications are due by May 25.
