In an intimate theat er, an audience gathered to watch vignettes about love performed on stage.
In the front row sat a couple, within arm’s reach of the actors. Lights dimmed and stories unfolded.
A voice in the audience exclaimed, “He didn’t look very hurt!” Chuckles of reaction were heard.
Stagehands added props, lines were delivered, and from the front row, a question arose, “What did she say?” Smiles of acknowledgment spread.
After intermission, the audience differed slightly ; some had changed their seats.
The lights went down, and the show continued. A tear was shed; laughter erupted; the audience enjoyed the performances. Clapping ceased when from the back of the arena came a comment : “That was good, but I think I’d have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t left my hearing aid at home.”
Hearty laughter filled the room. Hats off to audience participation.
