Mentioning areas of the state where I grew up gets my attention. I'll make a beeline to speak to a Sandlapper (South Carolinian).

Now, for 34 years, Roanoke has been my home. Thanks to The Roanoke Times, I learned of Luke Hancock and Gregg Marshall.

Talking to my son who lives in Northern Virginia, I tell him "we" had Roanoke people in the Final Four. He and his wife had already picked up on that fact watching a game.

Pride of place is important.

So, thanks to Luke and Gregg for giving us two more reasons to proudly call Roanoke home.
