Hackney - Ponitz Lauren Hackney, of San Francisco, Calif., and Jeff Ponitz, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. on May 24, 2015 at The Dallidet Adobe House and Gardens in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Eugenia Gamble. The bride is the daughter of Debbie Hackney of Morgantown, W.Va., and the late Dr. Cameron Ray Hackney. She received a B.S. in Architecture and both a Master of Architecture and of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia. Lauren is a Landscape Architect with CMG Landscape Architecture in San Francisco, Calif. The groom is the son of Dr. James and Mrs. Kathleen Ponitz of Holland, Mich. He received a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Michigan and a Master of Architecture from both the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia. Jeff is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Lauren walked down the aisle to "Sea of Love," performed by wedding musician and good friend, Les Beck, to meet Jeff under an arbor on the Garden's Avocado Patio. She wore a Pronovias gauze chiffon gown with an A-line silhouette, draped bodice, empire waist, V-neckline front and back, and flared skirt with a sweep train. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of blush dahlias and peonies with accents of scabiosa pods and dianthus. For something old, the stems of her bouquet were encased in a handmade lace doily given to her father many years ago by a graduate student from South America. For something borrowed and blue, she wore her mother's blue opal necklace, a gift from Cameron to Debbie. For something new, Lauren wore her engagement and wedding rings, designed by Jeff. Following the ceremony and receiving line, guests were served drinks and hors d'oeuvres. As a special treat, guests were invited to tour the Dallidet Adobe House, built in the 1850s and furnished with Dallidet family furnishings, with tours led by docents of the historical society. A buffet dinner, catered by Splash Caf‚, was held on the Redwood Patio. The beautiful centerpieces on the tables were designed and fabricated by Jeff. These unique 3-d printed vases, each containing a cactus or succulent, were also favors for each guest. Jeff also designed and fabricated tea light-holders for each table. Prior to the wedding, Jeff hosted his and Lauren's immediate families at a dinner on Friday evening at Buona Tavola. Jeff's parents hosted wonderful events on Saturday evening and Monday morning: a welcome reception with food and drinks on the deck of Novo Lounge, and a post-wedding brunch at Tognazzini's Dockside Too in Morro Bay, where wedding guests enjoyed fish tacos and the view of Morro Rock out in the bay. Following the brunch, Jeff and Lauren left for a honeymoon in Big Sur, Calif.
