Harold Lee Toney, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory, Roanoke, Va., 540-366-0707.
Jack Kenneth Gilley, 86, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Mountain View Cemetery, Ridgeway. Arrangements by Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory.
Hix Clifton Bondurant, born November 28, 1921, in Damascus, Va., died peacefully in his Radford home on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Hix and his late wife, Lillian Kessler Bondurant, met 70 years ago at Emory & Henry College. They devoted a large part of their love and labor to the college. Both graduated from E&H and were later honored by the school as recipients of its honorary doctorate of Humane Letters. Hix served on the Board of Trustees at E&H for many years. After graduating from E&H in 1943, and serving in the United States Army during World War II, Hix arrived in Radford, where he opened Bondurant Mutual Insurance Agency on May 1, 1947. Ten years later, he branched into real estate, eventually creating Bondurant Realty Corporation, with an emphasis on land development.
Hallie Amanda Carr, 66, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ft. Lewis Washington, and lived in Richlands, Va. until moving to Lockport, New York, in 1962.
