The Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Smith Mountain Lake presented two checks to Carilion on Sept. 30 at the organization’s headquarters in Moneta.
Past president Pat Jablonski said a $5,000 donation was made to Carilion Clinic Foundation for breast cancer research, and $2,000 was given to Carilion Cardiac Research Clinic.
Jablonski said the gift to benefit breast cancer research at the foundation was made just in time for October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“We want to let others know that there’s research right here in our back yard,” Jablonski said.
She added that this is the third check the Eagles have donated to Carilion Cardiac Research Clinic for a total of $11,000.
