Groups can celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival in style with a private chalet.
The popular celebration, which will be held Sept. 28 -29 at LakeWatch Plantation in Moneta, serves as the SML Regional Chamber of Commerce’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
The chamber is renting out 10 private chalets per day for large groups, parties and corporate events with a 10 -by 20-foot area starting at $450.
“It is a new thing that we are introducing, and it seems to be gaining a lot of ground,” said Vicki Gardner, executive director of the chamber. “There’s been a great deal of interest.”
There are three different size chalets ranging from $450-$800, each including a tent, tasting and non-tasting tickets, banquet and cocktail tables, signage and a private fenced-in area. Add-ons include extra tables or a private portable restroom. The prices are for one-day rental of the area; additional days will be available at a discounted price.
Gardener said grilling will not be allowed, but the chalets are in a prime location with a great view of the band. Polychrome and Dragonfly will play for Saturday crowds, and The Kings will perform Sunday.
This year, 27 Virginia wineries and 85 food and craft vendors will be participating.
Advance ticket sales are available at www.smlwinefestival.com and at area retailers until 5 p.m. on Sept. 27. Tickets are $20 for tasters and $25 at the gate. Non-tasters, or designated drivers, pay $12 in advance or $15 at the gate.
To reserve a chalet, contact Lauren Parcetich at 721-1203 or lauren@visitsmithmountainlake.com up until a week before the festival.
