What are the best things about Smith Mountain Lake?

Voting is about to get underway for the 13th-annual Best of Smith Mountain Lake awards. This year, we have 23 new categories, from “club or civic organization” and “best charity event or service project” to “best place to watch a sunset” and “best hidden jewel that more people should know about.”

The old favorites are there, too — from “best new business” to “best place to take a visitor” and lots of food and drink categories.

The voting opens Tuesday, Sept. 3 and runs through Monday, Nov. 11. You can find the ballot at smithmountainlake.com/best or on lakerweekly.com.
