Two 35-year-old brothers were involved in a head-on collision of their personal watercrafts that resulted in one of the riders injuring his leg.

On Aug. 5 about 7 p.m. near Lockport at B-10 on the Franklin County side, the two out-of-state vacationers crashed into each other, causing $1,500 in damages to the rented PWCs, said Sgt. Bryan Young of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

One man was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital; the other did not sustain injuries. Young said both operators were charged with failing to stay right when meeting head-to-head.

On Saturday at 8:30 p.m., an out-of-state vacationer was arrested for boating under the influence.

He was stopped in the Strawberry Banks area on the Franklin County side for riding a PWC after hours, Young said.
