On-water pre-party will  kick off wine festival

It’s been six years since the lake was the backdrop for the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival, but those who prefer their wine with water will have their day.

On Sept. 27, a wine festival kick-off party will be held at the Virginia Inland Sailing Association headquarters at 450 Sailor’s Cove Drive in Moneta. VISA, along with the Young Professionals of Smith Mountain Lake, is sponsoring the event.

Live entertainment by Key West, barbecue with two side dishes, a corn hole tournament and silent auction will be part of the festivities kicking off the 25th wine festival, which will be held Sept. 28-29 at LakeWatch. Wine and beer tickets will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $15 when purchased online and $20 at the gate. Early purchase is encouraged because space is limited.
