Lake residents might see new commercial office spaces before the end of the year.
The vacant two-story building now being renovated on the corner of Scruggs Road and Bluewater Drive will be home to at least four office spaces, a conference room and a reception area.
“We still have a fair amount of work to do on the inside,” property owner Jay Gauldin said. “Hopefully, it’ll be open by the end of the year.”
Gauldin’s business, TBS Construction, will call the office space planned for the back of the second-story its new home. Gauldin is currently operating his business from home.
Three smaller “micro offices” upstairs will be available for rent and will include Internet connection and access to printers. Gauldin has plans for a conference room and reception area for the first floor and eventually will build a third floor on the right side of the building, which will also be leased out, he said.
Gauldin said he had hoped the renovations would be completed by the end of the summer, but other projects have halted progress on the building.
He said that when he’s there working, people frequently stop and ask about it.
“They want bars and coffee shops,” he said.
