The Boones Mill Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has a new pastor. The Rev. Joy Haskin Rowe will start her ministry on Aug. 4. She replaces the Rev. Jim Compton, who has been the interim pastor for about a year.
Rowe comes from Davie, Fla., where her assignment was associate minister and chaplain of schools at Parkway Christian Church. She and her husband, Michael, who is retired from General Motors and the military, share seven adult children.
Rowe graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2008 from the Christian Theological Seminary and was ordained in Indiana in 2008. She also received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1993, and studied at St. Paul School of Theology in 1995, and at United Theological Seminary in 1998.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Rowe served as associate minister and acting senior minister at First Christian Church in Wilson, N.C., before taking the Florida assignment.
