Kirk Sampson (second from right), a member of the Smith Mountain lake Lions Club, was inducted as district governor for Virginia District 24-E at the Lions International Convention in Hamburg, Germany, by International President Barry Palmer. The annual convention, held July 5-9, drew more than 23,000 Lions from 200 countries. Former First Lady Laura Bush, the keynote speaker, talked about child literacy around the world.
