Art show begins Thursday at library

Best Pick Art Show, sponsored by the Bald Knob Artists, will begin Thursday and continue through August during regular library hours at Westlake Library in Westlake Towne Center, Hardy.

An opening reception will be held Thursday at the library from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Categories are oil, watercolor, pastel, drawing, acrylic, mixed media and other. Awards will be given for Best in Show and for People’s Choice. Single ballots are available for visitors to cast their vote from Thursday through Aug. 8.

Juror for the show is Michael Farrar of Clifton Forge. He has been an art teacher and educator for almost half a century, mostly in the Clifton Forge school system. Farrar has been an instructor at the Studio School in Roanoke, the Roanoke Parks & Recreaton Department’s Brambleton Center and the Alleghany Highlands Art & Craft Center in Clifton Forge. Farrar is the recipient of a number of awards, and his work is displayed across the United States and in several foreign countries.
