Tickets are now being sold for the Franklin County Historical Society’s Barbecue Gala, which will be held Aug. 24 from 2 until 8 p.m. at the Jubal Early Homeplace in Franklin County.
Visitors will be able to tour the birthplace of Early, a Confederate general, with guides in period dress , and enjoy a meal, which will begin at 6 p.m.; a period band; and period dancing. The Lone Ivy String Band will provide music, and a caller will offer dance instructions. Living-history exhibits will include infantry and cavalry, weapons, camp life and more.
There also will be an art show by Bald Knob Artists, and live and silent auctions featuring history-themed items.
