With the season just about to launch, who couldn’t use a new kayak or an outing on a fishing charter with Capt. Bert? If you prefer your fun on land, what about tickets to NASCAR’s Nationwide race at Charlotte Motor Speedway? Or if you like something a little more luxurious, there are a diamond bracelet, whose estimated worth is about $350, and a Louis Vuitton handbag valued at $750 to be had.
These items and others will be up for bid at Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy’s banquet and silent and live auctions on April 27 at Trinity Ecumenical Parish. The event, which begins with a silent auction at 5 p.m., is part of the school’s fifth-anniversary celebration.
The silent auction will be followed by a banquet and a presentation on the school. The event is expected to end about 9:30 p.m. when the last live auction item goes to the highest bidder.
The cost is $20 per person, $35 per couple and $125 for a table of eight.
Heather Hardee, administrative assistant at SML Christian Academy, said school officials hope to raise at least $20,000 in order to receive a matching gift from an anonymous donor.
Other items up for auction include tickets to Amazement Square in Lynchburg; Maui Jim Sunglasses; a Smoky Mountain getaway that includes tickets to Dollywood; and a number of tickets to local attractions .
