Tickets are on sale for Moonshine Express, which will be held in Rocky Mount on consecutive Sundays, April 21 and April 28.
Buses will transport participants, who will be able to meet characters who tell true stories from days past during the tour, which is sponsored by the Franklin County Historical Society.
Billed as an educational tour, it also promises to be fun.
A guide on each bus sets up more than 20 scenes. About 70 actors and interpreters tell the tales as they travel around Rocky Mount via vintage bus. Featured are people from both sides of the law, as well as those who enjoyed Franklin County’s most famous liquid. Church women decry demon rum while haulers and distillers tell of the “good” that ardent spirits did.
Participants will be able to see vintage cars, get a look at a full-size replica moonshine liquor still, and meet authors at tour headquarters. Moonshine-themed books and items will be available for purchase.
For information or to purchase tickets, $14 a piece, call 483-1890. Advance purchase is recommended.
