Susan Best said she will always remember her sibling, Rosie Bell, as a good friend as well as a good sister. But she said what made Bell the happiest was being a pediactric nurse.

Best made a donation to the Good Neighbors Fund in her sister's memory. "I've always thought it was a good fund that does a lot of good for people," Best said. "Rosie would have liked that."

Best said her sister, who was diagnosed with cancer last December, was determined to fight the disease and eventually return to work at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She did just that in March, but only for one night. Bell lost her battle with cancer three weeks later.

"She was always such a spunky thing," Best said. "She won't be forgotten by her friends or her community."
