Get Out: Olivia Newton-John
Seventies songstress Olivia Newton-John opens her national tour tonight at 8 in the Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre (formerly the civic center auditorium). The concert kicks off the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra’s pops season, even though the RSO won’t be there. Instead, it’s a special presentation by the orchestra.
The performance also recognizes national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to being a former hitmaker, Newton-John, 57, is a breast cancer survivor. RSO is asking patrons to make a $5 donation per ticket to Carilion Health System’s charity mammogram program.
Newton-John has released a new album called “Stronger Than Before” exclusively through Hallmark, which will give the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation $2 for every album sold.
