Seed Starting Workshop with Dr. Holly Scoggins
Scoggins, director of the Hahn Horticulture Garden and associate professor in the horticulture department at Virginia Tech, will cover seed saving and storage, strategies to enhance germination and care of seedlings. You'll take home tools of the trade, including reusable starter trays, professional germination mix, a humidity dome, seeds and other goodies to get you growing. Preregistration is required.

Wednesday
New River Valley Bird Club
Amy Carrozzino and Chris Latimer from Virginia Tech's Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation will give a program on habitat use and avian community dynamics on reclaimed surface mines in southwest Virginia.

Thursday
Norris Garden Community Meeting
The Landscape Architecture Program and the Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention at Virginia Tech present the first in a series of three public talks and town meetings on the design of the future Norris Garden. The garden will be designed by Virginia Tech students, and the Blacksburg/New River Valley community is invited to join in the design process. This meeting will seek input on the purpose and intent of the garden.
