At this year's Henry Street Heritage Festival, the daytime will be for spirituality. The nighttime will bring some hot funk music.

Larnell Starkey and The Spiritual Seven of Franklin County will keep the dayside festivities lively with some Southern gospel soul at the 21st annual version of this festival celebrating African-American art, music and culture.

Roanoke-based Kelly Gravely and the Groove and Asheville, N.C., act Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band will get backsides shaking after the sun goes down.

The event will be drum-heavy, too, with a performance from William Fleming High School's drum line and a world rhythms workshop from Robert Jospe, who will also bang the skins with his Charlottesville-based band, Inner Rhythm.

A quick heads-up: If you haven't yet heard young Roanoke singer Judi Jackson, here's a good opportunity. She'll be performing with the Cyrus Pace Roanoke All-stars. Jackson, a rising senior at Patrick Henry High School, has great tone and range, and is poised beyond her years.
